If you were not aware, Free Comic Book Day is this coming Saturday, May 2nd. All you have to do is walk down to your local comic book store, pick out a participating book that catches your eye, then go home and enjoy it. For free! This year that book should probably be Blackest Night #0.
I know what you’re thinking: “Blackest Night number zero? What the fuck you talking about, Ron Mexico? There ain’t no book like that!” And you’d be correct, because for the first time ever in Hell’s Kitchen an all-new, never before seen book is being released to coincide with Free Comic Book Day. It’s basically a prelude to the Green Lantern event Blackest Night, or as the fans are calling it “Everyone Is Going To Die And It Will Be Awesome.”
Other books of note include the DC Kids Mega Sampler (containing a Tiny Titans story, which is the most adorable comic in the world) and a 25th anniversary reprint of the totally badass first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (25th anniversary? Shit, I got old).
Pay no attention to the douche behind the curtain: Zombies, Run! is a fantastic game. This guy is just complaining because he has to use his imagination. “This book, it has no pictures. These words are claimed to be ideas.” Notice how the reviewer doesn’t actually play it in his review.
Zombies, Run! is a game for Android which uses the GPS to track your current location on a satellite map. Also on the map are user-defined clusters of zombies. The idea is to reach your destination without being mauled by them. I know what you’re thinking… “Doctor Stress, this sounds fantastic.” It is! You run your ass off and try to get away from zombies. What more could you want? The only way it could be better would be with co-op support; all your friends with G1s are tracked along with you when you want to meet up somewhere.
Don’t make the mistake of ducking into Starbuck while playing for a quick coffee like I did today. The zombies will have blockaded the place when it comes time to leave and you will die.
